Hi, we're Tori and Karen—a daughter and mom who decided to hit record on our weekly phone calls. Tori's in her late 20s, asking questions like "what steak cut should I buy for the crockpot?" and "when will I feel like a real adult?" Karen's in her 50s, sharing what she's learned while also admitting she's still figuring things out.
These conversations started in the kitchen, over dinner, during long drives—and they were too real, too funny, and too comforting not to share.

I'm Tori, the daughter who's always calling mom. I'm in my late 20s and constantly Googling things like "is this chicken cooked" and "how do taxes work."
I thought by now I'd feel like a real adult, but mostly I just feel like I'm winging it and hoping for the best. I love cooking (when I don't mess it up), creating a cozy home, and having deep conversations about life with my mom.
This podcast started because I wanted to document our relationship and share these conversations with people who might need them too. When I'm not recording episodes, you can find me watching reality TV or on a walk with my dog, Rookie or texting my mom a random question at 9pm.

I'm Karen, Tori's mom, and I answer the phone every time she calls—even when it's the third time that day. I'm in my 50s, navigating menopause, and realizing that I don't have all the answers I thought I would by now.
What I do have is a lot of love, a good amount of kitchen wisdom, and a willingness to talk through anything life throws at us. I love cooking, creating a warm home, and having real conversations with my daughter.
This podcast has been such a gift—it's brought us even closer and connected us with people who feel like family. When I'm not recording, I'm probably in the kitchen, reading, or answering yet another text from Tori.
Creamy, cheesy, and tastes like home. What could be better? I (Karen) didn’t grow up with mac ‘n cheese. In fact, the first time I had it was in college and it was Kraft Tori and I like to make this as a side dish for braised short ribs in the winter or as a side when Ross smokes a brisket in the summer.
I (Karen) don’t love pumpkin pie. I know, how dare I say such a thing. My go-to Thanksgiving dessert is either apple pie or my mother’s pecan pie. That’s not to say I don’t love pumpkin desserts, but straight up pumpkin pie just isn’t my thing. So when I found this recipe for a beautiful layered gingerbread and pumpkin dessert, I had to try it.
